I started “Diary of Blue poppy Cultivation” as one of the What s New topics in the Subsurface Microbiology Research Group.


Horonobe town is known as the town of Blue poppy and makes used of this flower as a tourist attraction. We can purchase seed of this flower in this town (see Fig.1).
I purchased the seeds and tried to cultivate this flower for the first time in my life. I am very interested in cultivating living beings as a researcher involved in the research field of life science.


Some seeds of Blue poppy were seeded in a small garden planter on May 6, 2014. It is said that hot summer is not suitable for Blue poppy because this flower is originally from an altitude environment of Himalaya Mountains. I think it is possible to cultivate Blue poppy in the garden just outside our house in Horonobe town because this town is situated in 45^o latitude north and has relatively cooler climate even in low land.


This diary might be faded away before you know if the cultivation of Blue poppy should turn out to be failed. In case of failure, please overlook it and think as follows: “Ah……, the cultivation must be unsuccessful.”
